I am a professional, degreed pianist offering lessons to students of all ages. My philosophy is to provide a positive environment for the student to progress at his own rate. It is more important to me to keep the student engaged and to love music than to produce a technical "wunderkind." I have a background in technology as well as music, so I am happy to utilize whatever I can find to reach my students! Distance Learning, creating You Tube classical music videos, using games to teach Music Theory, History, Rhythm: these are all resources to make learning customized to each student. Why should lessons be customized to the student? Because not all piano students are going to become concert artists. But why should that exclude or discourage the others? Isn't it more important that students have the opportunity to learn and progress in an environment that encourages creativity, positively reinforces their effort, builds self-discipline and leads to life-long lovers of music and the arts?
