Actively performing as pianist, keyboardist & vocalist in solo/duo/trio/quartet settings in the Greater Cincinnati area. A professional performer for close to fifty years, beginning as lead singer in rock bands in the mid-60s and playing electric piano & organ in wedding/night club bands in the early п70s. Since returning in 1990 from four years at sea as a cruise-ship pianist, I have played in restaurants and country clubs, at private parties, weddings, conventions, art show openings, and in churches. On the foundation from a music theory class in high school, I learned to play piano by ear while singing in local rock bands, and was playing keyboards and singing in bands in the early п70s. I learned much through private lessons from jazz pianist Frank Vincent, when he was at the U.C. College-Conservatory of Music, as well as from jazz-playing friends and fellow musicians I jammed and performed with. I have studied classical piano with various teachers over the years, but most of the musical skills and knowledge IНve acquired have come from the sheer joy of discovery, and from a lot of reading, observing and thinking, practicing, and performing. With a Master's in Education, Communication Arts (Xavier University, 1985) and experience teaching English as a Second Language, I understand how different people learn, and love to tailor individual lessons to each studentНs abilities and interests. I especially love working with adult beginners and those who had lessons at a young age but gave up and now are ready and motivated to play. I teach Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
