Min Yu Koh
Min Yu Koh is a piano teacher currently based in Franklin, TN. In addition to teaching piano privately and at music schools for over fifteen years, she has also taught fundamentals of music theory in junior high schools. Min holds a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She was offered the Excellence through Commitment Scholarship and later the "Second Year Merit Assistantship", awarded to outstanding students. Min served as a Music History Graduate Assistant where she taught Music History to junior and senior music majors. Her mentors include Professor Donald Beattie and Dr. Cully Bell for Piano Pedagogy, Dr. Junghwa Lee for piano, as well as Dr. Paul Transue for collaborative piano. Min was also actively involved as a choir accompanist in the Murphysboro United Methodist Church and taught piano with the Southern Illinois University Community Music School. Prior to her studies in the United States, Min was awarded the Fellowship of the Trinity College in London for Piano Recital and the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (UK) in Piano Performance. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Honors, validated by the University of Wales and was conferred the Best Graduate award. Min was the recipient of the Yamaha Scholarship (Asia). She studied the piano with Timothy Ku and has worked with renowned pianists, Konstantin Scherbakov, Dennis Lee and Boris Kraljevic. Min also served as the Student Music Director of the National University of Singapore Piano Ensemble (NUSPE) for several years where she coached piano duos, presented Music Appreciation sessions, and oversaw numerous NUSPE concerts.
