Emma Rui-Xuan Shi


Emma Rui-Xuan Shi is a unique and dynamic performer. She appears in concert within Canada and Asia. Emma began her piano study at the age of four. During her more than twenty years piano career, she has gained lots of awards, such as the first prize of 2010 Globe Chinese Musician Competition, the winner of сPearl Riverо cup piano competition, winners of numerous local and province competitions, etc. Moreover, she was also named the сYouth Artistо by Shanxi Musicians Association. Emma got her Bachelor of Arts degree from Capital Normal University (Beijing, China). Afterwards, she was admitted to the University of Victoria followed by acclaimed Canadian pianist, Professor Bruce Vogt, while awarded Wilhelm Rieder Scholarship, and received her Master of Music degree in 2010. Miss Shi is currently a candidacy of Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance under the guidance of world famous pianist, Dr. Corey Hamm, and Dr. Sara Davis Buechner, at the University of British Columbia, where she is offered full Scholarship and a teaching assistance position as a highly recommended musician and instructor. The topic of her dissertation is The Art of KurtаgНs Jаt_kok - Games for piano: Pedagogy and Performance Practice. By now, she has successfully held several solo and chamber recitals already. She would like to share her music with more and more people, and let them enjoy and feel happy from the musical world. As a teacher, Ms. Shi always encourages and inspires the students. Numerous students won local and national competitions.
